What is IMoCA Myanmar?

There is no modern or contemporary art museum in Myanmar/Burma, but there is a lot of interesting Myanmar artists. If there were to be an art museum, what would it be like? What types of art would it show to whom? Can those arts revive the rich heritage of Burmese art? What should be the sentiments and representations of Myanmar? Does Myanmar need a modern or contemporary art museum and how should be called it? This project addresses these questions.

We wish to create a new platform and database for current local and diaspora artists of Myanmar, to re-introduce international art networks and to reunite for future collaborations.
IMoCA Myanmar is a non-profit institution to promote and to host the online exhibitions and making documentation of selected artists and artworks, from the local or diaspora artists, who created multimedia and multi disciplinary works in their temporary spaces. We will create various programs, like open-calls for artists, curator and educational programs to reshape local young artists who are enthusiastic in contemporary art, and to develop art professions such as Curators, Researchers, Writers and organizers to engage art into community.
