What is IMoCA Myanmar?
IMoCA Myanmar is first endeavoring ideas for a virtual art museum and making a database archive of contemporary art practices in Myanmar while the country is under nationwide scattered situations and various depressions of social-upheavals after the 2021 coup.
IMoCA Myanmar is a non-profit institution to promote and to host the online exhibitions and making documentation of selected artists and artworks, from the local or diaspora artists, who created multimedia and multi disciplinary works in their temporary spaces. We will create various programs, like open-calls for artists, curator and educational programs to reshape local young artists who are enthusiastic in contemporary art, and to develop art professions such as Curators, Researchers, Writers and organizers to engage art into community.
IMoCA Myanmar is operated by the artist network of “School of Contemporary Art project Myanmar (SOCA)”, collaborated by the AURA Contemporary Art Foundation https://auraart-project.com/, with supervision of Sumitomo Lab: https://www.sumitomo.geidai.ac.jp/, Arts Studies and Curatorial Practices, Graduate School of Global Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts, Geidai. IMoCA is also a collaborative project of the “Association for Myanmar Contemporary Art (AMCA) https://www.amca.art, and we hope to work with local and regional art practicioners and international scholars and organizations.
We welcome you, to energize and support with the generosity and any kind of advices, donations and collaborations. We will be in touch all the time with you in online presentations.
