Writer, Producer and Artist
Nay Myo Set Lu was born in Dawei in 1994. He moved to Yangon with his mother to pursue his education from a young age, living and traveling between his hometown and Yangon. He graduated from Myanmar Maritime University in 2017. He began his writing career as a university student. He published the poetry collections "Marketing" in 2016 and "Black, Objects, A Kiss to Die For" in 2018. In 2021, he released a collection of short stories titled "2018, Myat Kay Zin." In addition to his literary work, he served as a producer for Maung Day's first short film, "On Veranda, In Flowers," in 2022. Subsequently, in 2023, he was selected for the PURIN Short Film Camp, where he won the 1st Runner-Up Award. This led to his participation in Platform Busan 2024, a program that is part of the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) held in October. In same year, he received the "Artist Response to Burma to Myanmar exhibition" grant, supported by the British Council Myanmar and the British Museum, through which he created "Myeik In a Shell" (Text & Documentation). In April 2024, he attended the GMS Artist Residency in Chiang Rai and created the video art piece "Lying On The Riverbed.” In the first quarter of 2025, he is once again serving as a producer for Maung Day's second short film, "Mother's Mushrooms," which was filmed in Kalaw. He is currently involved in the post-production and distribution of the film. Nay Myo Set Lu is also the founder of Fish Tank Poetry, NanYan Visual House, and VACUUM Records.
