WELCOME TO OUR SPACE!

“Initial Museum of Contemporary Art Myanmar (IMoCA)” is a Virtual Museum for the forerunner of a future physical model, endeavoring ideas for the presentations and making database archive of contemporary art practices in Myanmar while the country is under nationwide scattered situations and various challenges of social-upheavals. We wish to create a new platform and database for current local and diaspora artists of Myanmar, to re-introduce international art networks and to reunite for future collaborations.

Founded in 4th January 2025.

A Printed book, 108 Pages, Burma Myanmar, Curating contemporary art

Myanmar/Burma’s first DVD Magazine on contemporary art focuses on selected local artists who working in current trends of arts to exploring essential questions and concerns of present time. The works presented, with statements from the artists themselves or others active in the arts, reflects of society, while at the same time reveal- ing the characteristic features and discourses of the art system in field of local arts. The DVD not only presents works of art, but also statements by their involving and understanding on the world of arts and culture. As the statement, contemporary art mirrors contemporary culture and society, offering art students and general people to consider current ideas and re-link to the world. Most of contemporary artists’ works is a new combination of methods, materials, subject and their concepts that in varied presentation. Artists give challenges to traditional boundaries with changing cultural identity, values and new aesthetic of arts. All of 20 participant artists in this program DVD Magazine will be interpreting their works of arts with open-ended methodology and inquiry based approach on the various subject. That may provoke strong responses, or even contradict personal belief or social values. All outcome of dialogue are important things for engaging with the works of today contemporary art.
